Reader's essay from CET-4 test

Professor Xia gives his version of a reader's submission. See the CET-4 writing topic at bottom left.

Dear Emy,

Glad to hear from you and to know that you want to apply for the same department with me in this college. I dare say, you are making a right decision.

First, I think, you have the talent to learn English which you are always good at. We've been friends for so many years that I know you'll be successful later if you major in English. Second, with the increasing cooperation between our China and foreign countries, English is becoming more and more necessary for the communication with businessmen from abroad.

Of course, there are admission requirements. Unless you meet the requirements, you won't get in. The score of English must be up to a certain standard and you have to pass a specially-designed oral test. So you have to speak English as often as possible. According to my experience, doing more reading and listening practice is a must.

Second, with increasing economic cooperation between China and foreign countries, English is becoming more important for communication with businessmen from abroad.

Of course, there are admission requirements. You'll have to meet these requirements to get in. Your English score in the college entrance exam must reach a certain standard and you have to pass a special oral English test designed by our college. So, from now on, you have to speak English as often as possible. According to my experience, doing more reading and listening practice is a must.
